Property & Homeowners

Document Everything: Take photos and videos of the damage from multiple angles before moving anything or starting repairs.

Prevent Further Damage: If it is safe, make temporary repairs (like tarping a roof or drying out water) to prevent mold or further loss. Keep a 2’x2′ sample of any damaged carpet or padding for the adjuster.

Keep Receipts: Save every receipt for emergency repairs or additional living expenses. You will need these for reimbursement.

Insurance companies pay for the damages, but they do not provide the labor. You are responsible for hiring your preferred licensed and insured contractor. For auto claims, however, some carriers have “in-network” shops that offer streamlined service.

Usually, no. You should hire a professional leak detection or mold testing company to identify the source of the problem. If your claim is covered, the insurance company may reimburse these costs as part of the investigation process.

Review the notice from your HOA to identify the “cause of loss” and the amount requested. If the cause is a covered peril (like fire or wind) and not general maintenance, your policy may cover it up to your Loss Assessment limit.

Auto Insurance

Stay Safe: Move to a well-lit shoulder or safe area.

Exchange Info: Get insurance details from other drivers, but do not admit fault at the scene.

Police Report: Always call the police and obtain a report number.

Towing: Know where your car is being taken. If drivable, take it home to avoid expensive storage fees while waiting for claim approval.

Report it: Call your carrier’s 24/7 line immediately.

Yes. When you file a claim under your own policy, you are responsible for the deductible upfront. However, if the other party is found 100% at fault, your insurer will pursue “subrogation” to recover that money and refund your deductible to you.

If you receive a formal notice or lawsuit from a neighbor or HOA, contact us to file a Liability Claim. Your insurer will investigate to determine if you are legally negligent. Usually, there is no deductible for liability claims, and the insurance company will handle the legal correspondence for you.
